New Parent Gift GuideHere's the Milk & Honey guide to gift-buying for shell-shocked new parents.
The New Parent Survival KitOne of our best sellers, Natalia's New Parent Survival kit contains something for everyone. The brilliant New Parent Instant Revitaliser will be a cherished addition to the new family, and the Baby Massage Oil, with full-colour instructions for Mum & Dad (if only they provided instruction leaflets with the baby) will become a soothing part of the bedtime routine. It also includes a healing salve for mum and baby, and Mum gets a gorgeous relaxing (and healing) bath soak.Fine Organic WineAfter nine months of being the Designated Driver, she'll probably appreciate a few bubbles. With 3am feeds, quality not quantity will be the name of the game. For something deliciously pink (this is honestly the best pink fizz any of us in the office have ever tried) the La Jara Pinot Grigio organic sparkling rose is an absolute delight, and we've teamed it with some of the most incredible chocolate you will have ever tasted. For a truly, truly special gift, the 'Dis Vin Secret' organic Champagne from Francoise Bedel is absolutely stunning. For a modern twist on a lovely traditional, the superb and organic Fonseca port is stellar (although the temptation to drink it may be too great!). Just for Dads (and their new offspring)For the proud and painfully cool new dad, it's got to be the Camden-based Twisted Twee Dad & Baby Twin Sets. Nuff said. The Nitty GrittyThis is for close friends and family only! But I can't tell you how many times we've been told that a new mum loved the fact that someone had thought of her rather than buying yet another thing for the baby!Even second or third time around, you forget how battered and bruised you feel after delivery. To have a thoughtful selection of soothing and healing products to try when you get out of hospital is a real treat (however 'real' they may seem). We wouldn't recommend getting these in before the birth because, unless she's booked for C-section, there's no telling what sort of birth she'll have. However with first class or next day delivery, you can have something there for her arrival at home. For c-section deliveries you could send wound healing balms that will reduce the appearance of scars. For natural deliveries think bath salts and cooling perineal sprays. The other sensitive area (literally) will be breastfeeding issues. Two things dominate the mind of most new mums: sleeping and feeding. Some of the most popular gifts from old timers (like me) to new mums include the Bosom Buddies soothing poultice and the gel-free Booby Tubes breast packs. And you can never have enough nipple balm! Stimulants There are two we can't recommend highly enough: Natalia's New Parent Instant Revitaliser and Montezuma Organic Chocolate Truffles. The Organic truffles would be our favourite however, simply because you have an outside chance of turning up and tasting them yourself! |
